Tietronix created TieFlow for NASA Johnson to better manage the complex engineering processes required to build systems for manned space flight. NASA needed to improve their ability and agility to design, develop, and deploy mission critical systems safely, efficiently and quickly. NASA evaluated many off the shelf workflow and Business Process Management products but found they were not well suited to handle large, distributed engineering process automation. This was the motivation for Tietronix to build TieFlow - a process management product that focuses on formal engineering workflows and processes.
TieFlow helps engineering organizations by automating departmental workflows, coordinating an entire team’s activities, and painlessly enforcing process compliance. TieFlow is the core technology behind several solutions Tietronix has delivered to NASA Johnson in the areas of Software Development process automation, Configuration Management and a Virtual Call Center.

TieFlow Features
Graphical Process Modeling – Business and Engineer process experts graphically represent the process to be automated. TieFlow translates the graphical process representation for execution by its Process or Orchestration Engine.
Process Engine – Executes the steps and tasks according to the graphical process flows and business rules defined in the process model.
Rules Engine – Business Rules are executed in real time both for controlling process flows and executing portions of a task’s business logic.
Reports – TieFlow automatically captures process metrics and supplies real-time status updates. Additionally, TieFlow includes a general, customizable report generator
Graphical Dashboards – Real-time graphical animation of process, artifacts, and element status.
Integration with other Tools – TieFlow’s open architecture supports varying levels of integration with any 3rd party tool that has an open API, or web services interface.
Database – Stores and manages all process metrics and meta data.
Web Portal Access – Supports geographically distributed user base with a consistent web based interface.
TieFlow Solutions
The following applications have been created using TieFlow as core embedded technology:
TieConfig™ – This product fully automates Configuration Control Board (CCB) functions such as creating, modifying, approving and evaluating CRs (change requests) Additional functions include extensive reporting, maintaining CR history and audit trails, and scheduling CCB meeting and managing CCB agendas and minutes. TieConfig is currently deployed and managing 20 Control Boards at NASA.
TieSPA™ – Software Developer Assistant This product implements the NASA JSC Flight Software Process (WI-025). SDA painlessly enforces process compliance facilitating the entire engineering team of developers, team leaders, managers and QA personnel. Organizational complexity is greatly reduced. SDA is slated for deployment on NASA projects in early 2007.
BCD – Budget Change Directive BCD automates and manages the approval and electronic signature process for any changes to established program budgets for contracts and associated projects at NASA Johnson.
EVI – Enterprise Voice Integration EVI combines TieFlow with VOIP, IP-PBX, and business rules to provide the capability to automate any communication process. EVI supports all major communication mediums voice, phone, IP & PSTN, email, IM, and SMS.
